The following is just a synopsis of our 24th Festival in honour of the Madonna di Canneto
On August 21, 2011 we celebrated the 24th Festival in Honour of the Madonna di Canneto. We started the festivities with the recital of the Novena in Her honour every night, ending with the big celebration on the 21st. It was a great success once again with the participation of many thousands of pilgrims who came from all over North America and some from elsewhere, of many religious and secular organizations with their banners or flags, and many in their traditional costumes or outfits. Among the pilgrims were the Italian Vice Consulate of Windsor, the Knights of Columbus, different religious organizations, the Italian Canadian Veteran Police, the Bersaglieri, the St. Angela Church Choir and Voci Ciociare, the Potuguese marching band, the flags of Nations, and many more. They all came to give homage to our most beautiful Lady. The day started with a wonderful morning Holy Mass attended by thousands and celebrated by his Excellency Bishop Eugene P. LaRocque, followed by a procession around the Ciociaro Club, and ended with a beautiful evening candlelight Holy Mass celebrated in front of the Chapel by Father Nicholas Mauro Iko, followed by a short procession around the Chapel and a unique Firework display. Of course, the Chapel was open all day for continuous recital of the Holy Rosary, prayers and meditation.
We would like to thank all celebrants and concelebrants, volunteers, sponsors, donors and anyone who helped make the celebration a success, and of course all the pilgrims who came form near and from far. We hope to see you at our upcoming events! Contact the Society's president or any of the Society's Board of Directors for information, for tickets, to make a donation, to be a sponsor for any of the events or to be a volunteer.
